The Ecosward all year round grass seed mixture has been developed to reduce input costs and, just as importantly, to be kind to the environment by eliminating the need to over-fertilise and reduce the amount of water required.
On areas that are not normally fed with fertilisers, the Ecosward mix contains a tetraploid perennial ryegrass which has the potential to produce roots that grow to one metre in the soil and therefore obtain more water and nutrients plus increasing the carbon capture (CO2 is captured by the grasses that are growing, most of the carbon is sequestered in grass roots and with deeper roots carbon capture is increased).
The clover within the mixture captures most of the required nitrogen from the air; nitrogen fixation in the clover takes place in the roots nodules and nitrogen is made available to the surrounding grasses which keeps the sward healthy and green and yes less water is required because of the deeper roots produced.
